Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young has been selected to replace Giannis Antetokounmpo in the 2025 NBA All-Star Game, according to NBA insider Shams Charania. The Hawks star earns his fourth career All-Star selection after being left off the initial roster.
Young is averaging 23.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 11.4 assists per game this season while playing 36 minutes per contest. His playmaking has been a key factor for Atlanta, which currently sits ninth in the Eastern Conference with a 25-28 record.
Antetokounmpo, who was set to start for the East, will miss the game due to a mild calf strain suffered on February 2. The Milwaukee Bucks forward was the leading vote-getter in the conference but is expected to return shortly after the All-Star break.
Young’s selection marks a turnaround after his initial snub. He has been among the league’s top facilitators, leading the East in assists per game.
The 26-year-old will now represent the Hawks on the All-Star stage as Atlanta continues its push for a playoff spot. With his return to the event, Young looks to make an impact in his fourth appearance among the NBA’s elite.
