Jackson Jr. drops 32 points as Grizzlies rout Raptors

Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 32 points, and the Memphis Grizzlies cruised to a 138-107 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night. Ja Morant added 26 points, including 16 in the third quarter, as Memphis (35-16) extended its winning streak to four games.

Making his first professional appearance in his hometown, rookie Zach Edey posted 13 points and 14 rebounds for his eighth double-double of the season.

Toronto (16-35) struggled without RJ Barrett, who missed his second game due to concussion protocol. Scottie Barnes had a tough night, shooting 4-for-18 from the field and finishing with 11 points.

Memphis took control in the third quarter, outscoring the Raptors 43-25 behind Morant’s aggressive scoring. The Grizzlies knocked down 16 three-pointers, with Jackson Jr. hitting 4-of-5 from beyond the arc.

Toronto kept pace early, leading 59-53 at halftime, but failed to contain Memphis’ offense after the break. The Grizzlies erupted for a season-high 85 second-half points, nearly replicating their franchise-record 155-point performance against the Raptors in December.

Jamal Shead, Ochai Agbaji, and Ja’Kobe Walter led the Raptors with 14 points each, while Gradey Dick added 13. Toronto struggled from deep, shooting 12-for-42 from three-point range.

Edey was perfect from the field, making all five of his shot attempts and converting 3-of-4 free throws. His presence on the glass helped Memphis dominate the rebounding battle 61-34.

The Raptors played without center Jakob Poeltl, who sat out with a right hip injury. Without him, Memphis exploited Toronto’s interior defense, outscoring them 52-32 in the paint.

Morant hit two three-pointers in the third quarter, surpassing Toronto’s entire team, which went 1-for-9 from beyond the arc during that stretch. His explosiveness opened up opportunities for Jackson Jr., who capitalized on defensive breakdowns.

GG Jackson II scored 17 points off the bench for Memphis, while Brandon Clarke added 13 on 5-of-6 shooting. Luke Kennard had a quiet night, finishing with five points.

Toronto’s bench provided some offensive support, with Jonathan Mogbo scoring 10 points and Davion Mitchell chipping in 10 on 4-for-5 shooting. However, the Raptors’ starters struggled to generate consistent offense.
