Despite speculation surrounding a potential Zach LaVine trade, the Denver Nuggets appear unlikely to pursue the Chicago Bulls star. According to Bennett Durando of the Denver Post, Denver’s recent surge, powered by Jamal Murray’s efficient play, makes a blockbuster move less of a priority.
LaVine, averaging 24 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game this season, has emerged as one of the most sought-after trade targets. The 29-year-old guard is in the third year of a five-year, $215 million deal, which could complicate trade negotiations. While LaVine’s scoring versatility is attractive, the Nuggets seem content with their current roster structure.
Murray, Denver’s primary playmaker, has solidified his role with remarkable efficiency, averaging 21 points and six assists while shooting 47% from the field, 41% from three-point range, and 92% from the free-throw line since December. His recent performances have reinforced the Nuggets’ belief in their core lineup.
Denver, sitting fourth in the Western Conference with a 28-17 record, is already in a strong position to contend. The team’s front office appears reluctant to disrupt its chemistry by parting with key players like Michael Porter Jr. or Zeke Nnaji, who would likely be necessary components in any trade package for LaVine.
