Kel’el Ware leads Heat to dominant win over Spurs

Rookie Kel’el Ware matched his season high with 25 points, propelling the Miami Heat (21-20) to a commanding 128-107 victory over the San Antonio Spurs (19-22) on Sunday. Miami snapped a three-game losing streak, regaining momentum at Kaseya Center.

Duncan Robinson added 21 points on an efficient 5-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc, while Tyler Herro scored 16 of his 18 points in the second half. Veteran guard Terry Rozier chipped in 20 points, and Nikola Jovic contributed 14 points, including a crucial third-quarter surge that solidified the Heat’s lead.

The Heat closed the first half on an 11-0 run, transforming a five-point deficit into a 46-41 advantage. They carried that momentum into the third quarter, outscoring the Spurs 25-8 during a decisive stretch.

San Antonio’s Devin Vassell led all Spurs scorers with 23 points, while Victor Wembanyama added 21 points and 10 rebounds. However, the Spurs struggled to contain Miami’s offensive firepower and have now dropped three consecutive games.

Jimmy Butler, playing his second game since serving a seven-game suspension, tallied eight points and seven assists in 27 minutes. Ware’s performance, however, stole the spotlight as the 20-year-old rookie dominated in the paint and grabbed eight rebounds while shooting 10-of-19 from the field.

Miami’s three-point shooting was a difference-maker, as the team overcame a slow start from deep. After missing their first eight attempts, the Heat converted 18 of their next 25, finishing with a stellar 54.5% accuracy from beyond the arc.

The Spurs, now halfway through the season at 19-22, saw mixed contributions from their supporting cast. Julian Champagnie and Keldon Johnson combined for 13 points off the bench, while veteran Chris Paul finished with 10 points and nine assists.
