Lakers snap losing streak with comeback win over Heat

The Los Angeles Lakers (21-17) overcame a 12-point halftime deficit to defeat the Miami Heat (20-19) 117-108 on Wednesday, snapping a three-game losing streak. Rui Hachimura led the Lakers with 23 points, while Anthony Davis contributed 22 points and 11 rebounds in the win at Crypto.com Arena.

LeBron James added 22 points and nine assists, helping Los Angeles secure its first win since returning from a brief hiatus due to Southern California’s wildfires. Austin Reaves posted a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds, delivering clutch plays in the fourth quarter.

Tyler Herro paced the Heat with a game-high 34 points, hitting 7 of 12 shots from beyond the arc. Despite Herro’s scorching performance, Miami fell short, concluding their Los Angeles road trip with back-to-back losses following Monday’s defeat to the Clippers. Haywood Highsmith and Nikola Jovic added 12 points each off the bench for Miami.

The Lakers trailed 63-51 at halftime but stormed back with a dominant second-half effort. A 15-4 run early in the fourth quarter, capped by Max Christie’s three-pointer, gave Los Angeles an 88-87 lead with 10:47 remaining. The Lakers never looked back, outscoring the Heat 66-45 in the final two quarters.

Los Angeles benefitted from a balanced offensive attack, with six players scoring in double figures. Hachimura shot 9-for-15 from the field, while James and Davis anchored the team on both ends. The Lakers also received key contributions from Gabe Vincent, who scored 14 points off the bench, and Christie, who finished with 16 points, including three triples.

Miami missed the presence of Jimmy Butler, who completed a seven-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the team. The Heat relied heavily on Herro’s scoring, but his 22 first-half points weren’t enough to maintain their early lead. The team shot 53.4% overall and 44.4% from three-point range but struggled defensively in the second half.
