Curry’s 31 points propel Warriors past Timberwolves in nail-biting finish

Stephen Curry hit seven three-pointers and scored 31 points to lift the Golden State Warriors (20-20) to a dramatic 116-115 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves (21-19) on Wednesday night. The Warriors narrowly avoided a collapse after leading by 24 points late in the first quarter.

Andrew Wiggins contributed 24 points against his former team, helping Golden State snap a two-game losing streak. The team, battling injuries to Draymond Green, Jonathan Kuminga, and Kyle Anderson, capitalized on a hot start by making eight of their first 12 attempts from beyond the arc.

Minnesota, led by Anthony Edwards and Donte DiVincenzo with 28 points each, mounted a furious comeback. The Timberwolves tied the game at 108 with just over a minute left after erasing the early 26-5 deficit. DiVincenzo’s late layup trimmed the Warriors’ lead to one point with 12.1 seconds remaining, but clutch free throws from Curry sealed the victory.

Wiggins also played a crucial role in the final moments, grabbing a pivotal offensive rebound after Gary Payton II missed a free throw. Payton contributed seven points and six rebounds off the bench, including key defensive plays down the stretch.

Golden State’s shooting efficiency proved to be the difference, as they hit 50% from three-point range and 85.7% from the foul line. Buddy Hield added 18 points, including three three-pointers, while Moses Moody chipped in 11 off the bench.

For Minnesota, Julius Randle scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds, while Naz Reid added 15 points off the bench. Despite the Timberwolves’ late-game heroics, their sluggish start proved too much to overcome. The team missed its first eight shots, leaving fans on their feet for over four minutes before their first basket.
