The Memphis Grizzlies defeated the San Antonio Spurs 129-115 on Wednesday night at FedExForum, fueled by a dominant second-half performance. Ja Morant led the charge with 21 points and 12 assists, helping Memphis improve to 26-15 on the season.
Desmond Bane also contributed 21 points, while Santi Aldama added 20 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. Jaren Jackson Jr. finished with 19 points and six boards, as the Grizzlies outscored the Spurs 78-52 in the final two quarters to secure the victory.
San Antonio rookie Stephon Castle was a bright spot for the Spurs, scoring a season-high 26 points, including 24 in the second half. Victor Wembanyama tallied 13 points, 12 rebounds, and eight blocks, but his impact waned in the second half as Memphis adjusted its approach.
Zach Edey, who logged 16 minutes, contributed six points and five rebounds while holding his own defensively against Wembanyama. Memphis capitalized on its interior presence, scoring 50 points in the paint and neutralizing San Antonio’s rim protection in the second half.
Despite Wembanyama’s eight blocks—all recorded in the first half—the Grizzlies adjusted their offense, improving their efficiency and stretching the floor with perimeter shooting. Memphis shot 49.5% from the field and connected on 42.1% of its three-point attempts.
Off the bench, Luke Kennard provided a spark with 15 points on 5-for-9 shooting from deep, while Aldama’s double-double anchored the second unit. Memphis also won the rebounding battle, 52-44, and limited turnovers to maintain control throughout the second half.
San Antonio, now 19-20, struggled to find consistency on both ends of the court. Castle’s 26 points came on 9-for-21 shooting, while Devin Vassell added 21 points and four assists. The Spurs hit 16 three-pointers but shot just 44.9% overall, as Memphis tightened its defense late.
