Jokic leads Nuggets to comeback win over Mavericks

The Denver Nuggets rallied from a 19-point deficit to defeat the Dallas Mavericks 112-101 on Sunday night. Nikola Jokic, nearing another triple-double, recorded 19 points, 18 rebounds, and nine assists to lead the effort.

Denver’s victory improved their record to 23-15, marking their 12th win in 17 games. The Nuggets dominated the fourth quarter, outscoring the Mavericks 33-12, and showcased defensive resilience by holding Dallas scoreless from beyond the arc in the final period.

Russell Westbrook contributed significantly, tallying 21 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists. Aaron Gordon, returning to the lineup after missing time due to injury, added 13 points and six rebounds in just 18 minutes off the bench.

Klay Thompson led the Mavericks with 25 points, shooting 6-for-13 from three-point range. However, he was held scoreless in the fourth quarter, where Dallas struggled to find offensive rhythm. Playing without Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, the Mavericks fell to 22-17.

The Nuggets relied heavily on points in the paint, outscoring Dallas 68-40 in that area. Despite shooting just 21.9% from three-point range, Denver’s interior dominance and defensive adjustments were key to their comeback.

Denver’s bench played a pivotal role, with Peyton Watson posting a game-high +30 plus-minus and Gordon making efficient contributions. The Mavericks’ supporting cast, however, failed to provide enough firepower, as Dallas shot 41.2% from the field overall.
