Trae Young explodes for 34 points as Hawks crush Raptors

Trae Young delivered a stellar performance with 34 points and 10 assists as the Atlanta Hawks cruised to a commanding 136-107 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Sunday night. This win marked Atlanta’s fourth consecutive triumph, improving their record to 18-15.

De’Andre Hunter contributed 22 points, while Clint Capela added 11 points and 13 rebounds in a solid showing. The Hawks’ defensive intensity was evident early, with 10 first-quarter steals, helping them set a season-high with 22 by the end of the game.

Scottie Barnes led the Raptors with 19 points, and RJ Barrett chipped in 17, but Toronto’s struggles continued. The Raptors dropped their 10th straight game, falling to 7-25 on the season. Turnovers plagued the Raptors, who committed a season-worst 31 miscues, including six in their first seven possessions.

Young’s efficiency from deep highlighted Atlanta’s offensive explosion, as he shot 7-of-13 from beyond the arc. His seven triples matched the Raptors’ entire team output, with Toronto going 7-of-24 from long range.

The Hawks capitalized on a massive 40-point third quarter, where Young scored 12 points, extending a six-point halftime lead to a 22-point margin entering the fourth.

Bruce Brown made his season debut for Toronto after recovering from knee surgery, scoring 12 points in 19 minutes. Jakob Poeltl returned from a strained groin, contributing 13 points and six rebounds, but their efforts weren’t enough to lift the Raptors.

The Hawks’ depth also shone, with Onyeka Okongwu adding 15 points off the bench, and Hunter shooting an efficient 8-of-11 from the field. Atlanta dominated in transition and capitalized on turnovers, scoring consistently off Toronto’s errors.
