The future of Sacramento Kings star guard De’Aaron Fox is becoming increasingly uncertain, with multiple teams reportedly interested if he becomes available via trade.

Fox, 27, is currently in the fourth year of a five-year, $163 million contract. Despite his individual success, Sacramento has struggled to capitalize on his talents and maintain playoff consistency.

The Kings showed promise two years ago by securing the third seed in the Western Conference but were eliminated in the first round by the Golden State Warriors. Last season, Sacramento fell short of expectations, exiting in the Play-In Tournament and missing the playoffs entirely.

This season has been even more disappointing, with the Kings sitting at 12th in the Western Conference with a 13-18 record. The team faces an uphill battle to salvage their season, raising questions about Fox’s long-term future in Sacramento.

NBA insider Tim McMahon discussed Fox’s potential availability on The Hoop Collective podcast, stating, “If Fox is going to ask out, it seems like the tea leaves are pointing that way… If Fox asks out, teams like San Antonio and Houston are the ones to watch. I’ve also heard rumors about the Lakers, but it’s hard to tell how much of that is just speculation because he’s a Klutch client.”

“There’s also been talk about Miami, given his connection to Bam Adebayo. Who knows what other suitors might emerge, or which of these teams will actually pursue him if it comes to that?”

Fox is represented by Klutch Sports, the same agency that handles several Los Angeles Lakers players, including LeBron James and Anthony Davis. This connection has fueled speculation about a possible move to the Lakers.

Other potential suitors mentioned include the San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, and Miami Heat, the latter of which boasts Fox’s friend Bam Adebayo.

Fox is averaging 26.2 points, 5 rebounds, and 6.1 assists in 37.2 minutes per game this season. Despite his strong performances, the Kings have struggled to find consistent success as a team.
