The Atlanta Hawks staged a remarkable comeback to defeat the Chicago Bulls 141-133 on Thursday night, fueled by a career-high 30-point performance from Jalen Johnson and a dominant showing from Trae Young. Johnson added 15 rebounds to his tally, while Young contributed 27 points, 13 assists, and surpassed 11,000 career points.
The Hawks (16-15) were down 124-107 with just over six minutes remaining but orchestrated a 23-2 run to seize the lead for the first time since the opening quarter. Atlanta exploded for 50 points in the fourth quarter, completing one of the season’s most dramatic turnarounds.
Zach LaVine led the Bulls (13-18) with a season-high 37 points, including seven 3-pointers. Jevon Carter scored 26 points, with 19 coming in the first quarter, but Chicago’s offense faltered late as they dropped their third straight game despite shooting 54% from the field.
Atlanta received critical contributions across the roster. De’Andre Hunter came off the bench to score 25 points, his 13th consecutive game with at least 15 points as a reserve, setting a Hawks record. Six Atlanta players finished in double figures.
The Bulls’ bench, led by Carter, contributed 43 points, but turnovers and defensive lapses in the fourth quarter allowed Atlanta to capitalize. Nikola Vucevic added 19 points and eight rebounds, while Coby White chipped in with 23 points and nine assists for Chicago.
Atlanta’s offense thrived in transition, scoring 17 fast-break points and converting 94% of their free throws, hitting 32 of 34 attempts.
