Orlando Magic big man Moritz Wagner is expected to undergo medical imaging on his left knee Sunday after suffering what appeared to be a significant injury during Saturday night’s game, per Jason Beede of The Orlando Sentinel.
Wagner’s injury occurred less than two minutes into the first quarter when he took an awkward fall. He needed assistance from teammates Jonathan Isaac and Jalen Suggs to leave the court and was unable to return for the rest of the game.
In a statement released by the team, the Magic confirmed Wagner’s absence for the remainder of the contest and announced plans for further evaluation.
The injury has raised concerns, as evidenced by Orlando head coach Jamahl Mosley, who declined to provide details during his post-game press conference and asked reporters to avoid inquiring about the matter, according to Beede’s report.
Wagner’s status moving forward remains uncertain, and the imaging results will likely determine the extent of the injury and potential recovery timeline.
“Before you start asking me questions, Moe did what he did to his left knee,” Mosley said. “And so, he’ll be reevaluated tomorrow. So I’m going to ask that we don’t ask any more questions about that because that is a little touchy subject right now for us, for him.
“And I want to be able to control my emotions because of how much we care about these young men and what they’re going through. We can do another discussion about it another day, please.”
