The Memphis Grizzlies delivered a record-breaking performance on Thursday, cruising to a 144-93 victory over the Golden State Warriors. The 51-point margin marked the largest win in the NBA this season.
Santi Aldama led the charge for Memphis with 21 points and 14 rebounds, while the Grizzlies set a franchise record by sinking 27 three-pointers. Memphis improved to 19-9 on the season and has now won 11 of its last 13 games.
The Warriors, now 14-12, endured their worst defeat since a 140-88 loss to Boston in March last season. Stephen Curry struggled, finishing with only two points and failing to make a field goal for the first time this year. Curry, who missed all six of his three-point attempts, made his only two points from free throws.
Newly acquired point guard Dennis Schroder also had a rough night in his Golden State debut, shooting 2-of-12 and scoring just five points. Brandin Podziemski and Andrew Wiggins were the lone bright spots for the Warriors, scoring 21 and 19 points, respectively.
Jake LaRavia contributed 19 points for Memphis, while Jaren Jackson Jr. added 17. Luke Kennard chipped in with 15 points, hitting five three-pointers.
The Grizzlies dominated from start to finish, shooting 56.3% from beyond the arc and building a commanding 69-38 halftime lead.
Golden State combined to shoot just 35.6% from the field, with Curry and Schroder going 2-for-19 overall and missing all 10 of their three-point attempts. Curry’s sole highlight of the game was recording his 1,500th career steal, joining a prestigious list of players with over 24,000 points, 6,000 assists, and 1,500 steals.
Memphis’s defense stifled the Warriors early, limiting them to 23% shooting in the first half. Desmond Bane contributed 15 points and seven assists, while Jaylen Wells added 13 points. Zach Edey and Brandon Clarke combined for 18 rebounds, solidifying Memphis’s dominance on the boards.
