The Miami Heat are reportedly open to considering trade offers for veteran forward Jimmy Butler, but there is no rush to resolve.

Team sources suggest that the Heat are comfortable with the possibility of Butler remaining on the roster until his contract expires, even if it means he could depart as a free agent in the 2025 offseason.

During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Shams Charania addressed recent remarks from Butler’s agent, Bernie Lee, disputing his report on the situation. ESPN’s analyst firmly defended the accuracy of his reporting, stating:

“The situation is I 100 percent stand behind the reporting,” Charania said. “This is probably the most vetted story I think I have ever put out. I’m that confident in the story.”

Charania went on to clarify the details: “This is exactly where it is: the Heat are open to listening to trade offers for Jimmy Butler. That’s what sources told me last week. That remains the case. There’s no urgency though. He’s on a $49 million contract this year. He has a $52 million player option for next year.

“They don’t really have much fear… let’s say he goes into free agency, they’re not that fearful that there’s a team out there that is going to be willing to give him… because there’s only a few teams with cap space. So who’s out there to give that to him? They’re confident with where they’re at.”

Charania also added that if a trade were to occur, Butler would show openness to specific destinations.

“The reporting that I had is that if he were to be moved, there’s four destinations he would be open to from what I’ve been told that’s been indicated around the league. That’s the Mavericks, that’s the Rockets, the Warriors and the Suns. That all remains to be the case. One-thousand percent. And it’s fully, fully vetted.”

The Heat’s calculated approach indicates their confidence in navigating the situation, whether it involves Butler staying, leaving, or being traded.
