Former NBA guard Jeff Teague recently shared his thoughts on LeBron James’ future, speculating that the Los Angeles Lakers star could retire after the current season.
Speaking on the Club 520 podcast, Teague noted that age seems to be catching up with James, a rare observation for the 39-year-old in his 22nd season.
“LeBron needs to rest a little bit, bro. Age is actually catching up with Bron. It’s the first time I’ve ever seen it like that. He’s really kind of slowing down. I ain’t going to lie—I think he might retire after this year,” Teague said, via HoopsHype.
He also hinted at the possibility of James documenting his final season, suggesting, “I think he wants to do it differently. I think he’s probably got a documentary going right now. They’re probably recording everything he’s doing.”
Despite Teague’s remarks, James continues to perform at an elite level. This season, the Lakers forward is averaging 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 9.1 assists per game while playing 35 minutes per contest. His production remains critical to the Lakers’ efforts as they navigate injuries and seek to climb the Western Conference standings.
The Lakers are currently 12-9, sitting in ninth place in the West. The team’s struggles with consistency and health have hindered their progress, but James has remained a steady presence on the court.
