Hawks extend winning streak to four games with win over Pelicans

The Atlanta Hawks secured their fourth consecutive win, defeating the New Orleans Pelicans 124-112 at home on Monday night. Trae Young recorded his 15th double-double of the season with 12 points and 15 assists, leading the Hawks’ balanced offensive attack.

De’Andre Hunter celebrated his 27th birthday in style, coming off the bench to score a team-high 22 points, including four three-pointers.

Seven Hawks players scored in double figures, with Dyson Daniels and Jalen Johnson each contributing 19 points. Atlanta’s efficient ball movement resulted in 31 assists, marking their 14th straight game with at least 25 dimes, a franchise record.

CJ McCollum paced the Pelicans with 29 points, falling one short of his season high. Yves Missi added 23 points and 12 rebounds, while Brandon Boston Jr. chipped in 19 points off the bench. The Pelicans, however, struggled defensively and extended their losing streak to nine games.

New Orleans entered the game shorthanded, missing key players like Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram due to injuries. Despite the absences, they showed resilience, bouncing back from their season-low scoring output against New York on Sunday. The Pelicans shot 44% from the field but could not keep up with Atlanta’s second-half surge.

Atlanta dominated the boards, outrebounding New Orleans 51-41, with Clint Capela grabbing 17 rebounds to go along with nine points. The Hawks also shot 51% from the field, overcoming a poor 26.3% performance from beyond the arc.

The Pelicans’ road struggles continued, as they have now lost 11 of 12 away games this season. Dejounte Murray, playing in his first game back in Atlanta since being traded last offseason, had a quiet night with seven points and 10 assists. New Orleans also committed 16 turnovers, which Atlanta converted into 19 points.

The win moves Atlanta to 11-11 on the season as they climb back to .500.
