Franz Wagner powers Magic to sixth straight win over Nets

Franz Wagner delivered an all-around performance as the Orlando Magic defeated the Brooklyn Nets 100-92 on Sunday, extending their win streak to six games.

Wagner finished with 20 points, nine rebounds, eight assists, and two blocks, leading Orlando (15-7) to its 12th victory in 13 games.

The Magic used their size advantage and strong defense to stifle the Nets (9-12), outscoring them 54-38 in the paint and dominating the boards 52-33.

Goga Bitadze contributed 12 points and 13 rebounds, while Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added 16 points. Despite committing a season-high 22 turnovers, Orlando’s defensive effort proved decisive.

Brooklyn’s Cam Johnson led all scorers with 26 points, and Dennis Schroder added 20 points and seven assists. However, the Nets struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 25.8% (8-for-31) against the Magic’s top-ranked defense.

After a tightly contested first half with 14 lead changes and 11 ties, Orlando began to pull away in the third quarter. A 17-6 run pushed the Magic’s lead to 69-59, despite Jalen Suggs picking up his fifth foul early in the period. Brooklyn responded with a 7-0 run to open the fourth quarter, briefly taking a 76-75 lead with 10:45 remaining.

Bitadze and Wagner anchored Orlando’s interior dominance, while Wendell Carter Jr. chipped in 14 points and seven rebounds. Off the bench, Moritz Wagner contributed 12 points and eight boards, providing crucial support in the paint.

For Brooklyn, turnovers and a lack of offensive rhythm hampered their efforts. Nic Claxton managed nine points and seven rebounds but struggled against Orlando’s size, and the Nets’ bench provided little relief beyond Keon Johnson’s 12 points.
