The Brooklyn Nets secured a 127-117 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night, powered by Tyrese Martin’s career-high 30 points and Dennis Schroder’s 29-point contribution. Despite missing key players, Brooklyn extended its strong run, winning four of its last five games.
Martin shot an impressive 10-for-13 from the field, including 8-for-10 from three-point range. His performance was a significant turnaround, having scored just 33 total points in his previous 21 NBA games.
Schroder added nine perfect free throws, while Ben Simmons recorded 14 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists in an all-around effort.
The Suns, led by Devin Booker’s 31 points and Kevin Durant’s 30, struggled with turnovers. Phoenix committed 17 turnovers, leading to 24 points for Brooklyn. Durant, playing against his former team, added seven turnovers to the Suns’ difficulties, despite his scoring efficiency.
The game remained tight through the first half, with a 63-63 tie at halftime. Martin’s 17 first-half points, including five three-pointers, helped Brooklyn stay competitive.
In the third quarter, the Nets pulled away with a 17-3 run, building an 80-66 lead. The Suns’ attempts to close the gap were thwarted, as Martin’s three-point shooting and clutch free throws preserved Brooklyn’s lead.
Brooklyn’s bench provided vital support, with Trendon Watford contributing 18 points. Despite the absence of leading scorer Cam Thomas, along with forwards Nic Claxton and Noah Clowney, the Nets maintained a balanced attack.
For the Suns, Booker’s 12-for-13 free-throw shooting highlighted his aggressive play. Tyus Jones dished out 12 assists, and Jusuf Nurkic was perfect from the field in limited minutes, scoring six points.
Phoenix has now dropped seven of its last nine games, highlighting ongoing struggles with consistency and ball security.
The Suns’ reserves provided minimal scoring impact, with Grayson Allen and Royce O’Neale combining for just 17 points. Phoenix also struggled to contain Brooklyn’s sharpshooting, allowing the Nets to shoot 42.9% from deep and 50.6% overall.
This win boosts Brooklyn’s record to 9-10, while Phoenix drops to 10-8.
