Victor Wembanyama delivered a stellar performance to guide the San Antonio Spurs to a 104-94 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Saturday night.
The Spurs erased a 17-point deficit with a dominant fourth-quarter run, snapping Golden State’s two-game winning streak.
Wembanyama tallied 25 points, nine assists, seven rebounds, and three blocks in his return from a three-game absence.
Golden State appeared in control, building an 81-64 lead late in the third quarter. However, San Antonio’s defense locked in, holding the Warriors to 13 points in the fourth quarter and without a field goal for over five minutes.
Stephon Castle, another Spurs rookie, was instrumental in the comeback with 19 points and a crucial steal from Stephen Curry in the closing minutes.
Harrison Barnes added 22 points for San Antonio, while Andrew Wiggins led Golden State with 20 points. Curry was limited to 14 points on 5-of-16 shooting, as the Spurs’ defense smothered him down the stretch.
Golden State’s bench was held to just 36 points. The Warriors shot 37.9% from the field and 31.8% from beyond the arc, falling short of their season averages.
The loss drops the Warriors to 12-4, with their high-octane offense struggling to find rhythm in the second half.
San Antonio, now 9-8, will look to build on its winning streak as it continues to integrate its rising stars.
