Jordan Farmar leaves Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv, Gal Mekel comes in

Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv have parted ways with former NBA champion Jordan Farmar and in a quick turn of events, have signed Israeli international Gal Mekel as his replacement.

Farmar leaves Maccabi, having averaged 8.9 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists in almost 21 minutes of action. The former Los Angeles Lakers guard has also played 12 games in the Israeli league, averaging 10.5 points and 4.1 assists in 25 minutes in his second spell with the club.

The American now aims to return to the NBA, where he reportedly would not say no to a 10-day contract.

Free agent Mekel lands in Tel Aviv for his second spell with Maccabi. He was a member of the team from 2008 to 2010. The former Dallas Mavericks guard has signed a reported three-and-a-half-year deal, which includes an NBA out, according to agent Misko Raznatovic.

Maccabi are next in Eurocup action on Wednesday when they face Mekel’s old team Nizhny Novgorod.
