Houston Rockets big man Alperen Sengun continues to make significant strides in his game following his five-year, $185 million contract extension signed last month, according to Feigen in another piece.

Sengun showcased his all-around skills by recording his first triple-double of the season in Houston’s victory over the Clippers on Friday. Beyond his offensive contributions, Sengun’s defensive development has become a focal point for the team and a key element of his growth.

“I do (a) good job,” Sengun said of his defensive efforts. “I do my best on defense, trying to help my teammates. Everybody is trying their best on defense. I’m just trying to help them more.”

This commitment to defense has been evident in Houston’s success. With a third-ranked defensive unit, the Rockets have benefitted greatly from Sengun’s presence in the paint.

Opposing players are managing to hit just 42.9% of their shots when guarded by Sengun, reflecting his effectiveness as a deterrent at the rim.

Head coach Ime Udoka has also taken note, commending Sengun for his rim protection and the impact it has had on the team’s defensive performance.

As Sengun continues to grow into his role as a cornerstone of the Rockets, his ability to anchor both ends of the floor is becoming increasingly vital to Houston’s ongoing success.
