Nikola Jokic delivered an extraordinary performance with 37 points, 18 rebounds, and 15 assists, leading the Denver Nuggets to a 122-120 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday night. This was Jokic’s fourth consecutive triple-double and his NBA-leading sixth of the season.
The game, a thrilling Western Conference clash, saw the Nuggets extend their winning streak to five games, improving their record to 7-3.
Michael Porter Jr. hit a clutch mid-range jumper with just seven seconds remaining to secure the win for Denver. Porter finished the night with 17 points, while Jamal Murray added 18.
Dallas, now 5-5, was led by a season-high 43 points from Kyrie Irving. Luka Doncic contributed 24 points and 9 assists, while Daniel Gafford had 16 points. Despite Irving’s incredible scoring display, the Mavericks fell short, unable to hold onto a late lead.
The Mavericks trailed by three entering the final period but surged ahead thanks to three consecutive 3-pointers from Irving, which gave them a 105-102 lead with 8:46 left.
However, Denver’s offense proved resilient, with the teams exchanging baskets in a high-paced finish. Irving’s bank shot gave Dallas a 120-118 lead with 1:39 remaining, but Jokic responded with a critical tip-in to tie the game. Porter then nailed the game-winner shortly after.
Key moments from the game included Jokic’s calm demeanor in the final minutes, as well as Irving’s missed 3-pointer at the buzzer that would have given the Mavericks the win.
Denver had a strong team effort, with every member of the starting five scoring in double figures, a testament to their offensive depth.
