Franz Wagner leads Magic past Wizards in dominant victory

Franz Wagner delivered a commanding performance with 23 points and seven assists as the Orlando Magic surged to a 121-94 win against the Washington Wizards on Sunday night.

The Magic improved to 5-6 on the season, while the Wizards dropped to 2-6, extending their losing streak to four games.

The Magic’s success was fueled by balanced scoring and sharp shooting, with key contributions from Goga Bitadze, who added 10 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, controlling the paint effectively.

Orlando’s bench provided an additional boost, as Mo Wagner and Cole Anthony each scored 16 points, while rookie guard Anthony Black chipped in 12 points.

Washington struggled defensively, giving up 123.5 points per game on average this season, the highest in the league. Despite an early lead, the Wizards couldn’t sustain their momentum, with Orlando pulling away in the second half.

Bilal Coulibaly, one of the bright spots for Washington, scored 20 points with six rebounds, six assists, and three blocks, while Jordan Poole led with 24 points.

The Magic’s three-point shooting, previously among the worst in the league at 29.8%, improved significantly against Washington. Ten players for Orlando connected from beyond the arc, and the team shot 35.4% from deep, going 17-for-48. Jett Howard hit all three of his three-point attempts, adding nine points to the Magic’s effort.

Orlando’s rotation adjustments due to injuries to starters Paolo Banchero and Wendell Carter Jr. didn’t impede their game.
