Fenerbahce Istanbul has officially signed Turkish forward Onuralp Bitim to a long-term deal through the 2027-28 season. Rather than joining Fenerbahce immediately, Bitim will spend the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign on loan with EuroLeague competitor FC Bayern Munich.
The 25-year-old recently played for the Chicago Bulls in the NBA, appearing in 23 games and averaging 3.5 points and 1.4 rebounds per game.
Prior to his NBA stint, Bitim last competed in Europe with Bursaspor in the 2022-23 EuroCup season, where he showcased his scoring and playmaking abilities by averaging 18.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.2 assists across 18 games.
Bitim’s experience also includes helping lead Bursaspor to the EuroCup Finals during the 2021-22 season. That year, he averaged 12.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.2 assists over 19 games.
Although his last appearance in the EuroLeague came in the 2017-18 season with Anadolu Efes, where he played just four games, Bitim’s consistent performances in Europe have kept him in the spotlight.
Joining Bayern Munich under head coach Gordie Herbert, Bitim arrives at a club off to a strong start with a 5-2 record in the EuroLeague.
Bayern has recently strengthened its lineup with the additions of Shabazz Napier and Johannes Voigtmann, and the two have already made an impact.
Meanwhile, Carsen Edwards, Devin Booker, and Nick Weiler-Babb continue to play crucial roles in their second or more seasons with the team.
Bitim’s offensive skill set adds depth to Bayern’s roster, providing Coach Herbert with additional options as the team aims to maintain its momentum in the EuroLeague.
