The reporter Joel Embiid confronted after a game this weekend will keep his job covering the 76ers. TMZ Sports reports that the Philadelphia Inquirer is not removing him from the beat despite the incident.
Marcus Hayes, a columnist, sparked backlash after criticizing Embiid’s recent absences and mentioning Embiid’s late brother and son in a since-edited article. Embiid, angered by the comments, approached and shoved Hayes after the 76ers’ home game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday.
Embiid was handed a three-game suspension on Tuesday, set to begin once he’s active. Meanwhile, the Inquirer confirmed Hayes’ role remains unchanged.
