EuroLeague imposes hefty fines on Crvena Zvezda for officiating criticism and fan misconduct

EuroLeague Basketball has handed out significant fines to Crvena Zvezda following several disciplinary infractions during the 2024-25 EuroLeague season.

In Round 6, multiple individuals associated with the club were fined for comments regarding officiating. Nikola Kalinic was fined €5,000 for his remarks, while teammate Nemanja Nedovic also received a €5,000 fine. These fines were issued for criticizing the officiating.

Crvena Zvezda itself was penalized with a €10,000 fine for publishing similar comments on the club’s official website. Additionally, the club’s Chairman of the Board, Zeljko Drcelic, was fined €10,000 for his own comments on the officiating. The protest filed by Crvena Zvezda in relation to a game against Zalgiris Kaunas was dismissed.

Further disciplinary actions were taken against Crvena Zvezda players Luka Mitrovic and Nemanja Nedovic for their behavior during the same road game against Zalgiris Kaunas. Mitrovic received a €7,000 fine, while Nedovic was fined €5,000 for actions deemed disrespectful toward referees during the match.

In Round 7, Crvena Zvezda faced another round of penalties, this time for fan misconduct during their home game against Panathinaikos. The club was fined €32,500 due to offensive chants and the throwing of objects onto the court by fans.

In addition to Crvena Zvezda’s sanctions, Olympiacos was also fined €5,000 for similar fan misconduct during their game against FC Barcelona. This fine was also related to offensive chants made by fans during the match.

The Serbian side is currently on a four-game losing streak, which puts them in 12th place in the EuroLeague with 3 wins and 4 losses.
