Pacers triumph over Magic in well-rounded team effort

The Indiana Pacers (4-4) secured a solid 118-111 victory over the Orlando Magic (3-6) on Wednesday night, showcasing a balanced attack that saw multiple players step up offensively.

Bennedict Mathurin led Indiana with 20 points, while Tyrese Haliburton, Myles Turner, Pascal Siakam, and Jarace Walker each contributed 17 points to the team’s success.

The Pacers were ahead by two points in the final minute before Haliburton hit a clutch three-pointer, followed by Mathurin’s two free throws that sealed the win.

Indiana demonstrated depth with six of nine players scoring in double digits. T.J. McConnell also added 15 points off the bench.

For the Magic, Franz Wagner topped all scorers with 28 points and added eight rebounds and six assists in an impressive individual performance.

Despite Wagner’s contributions, Orlando struggled to maintain control, with Jalen Suggs scoring 15 points and Moritz Wagner adding 14 off the bench, but it wasn’t enough to stop Indiana’s late push.

In the loss, the Magic endured their fifth consecutive defeat, marking a difficult stretch on the road. Their last win came at home against the Pacers on October 28, but Orlando’s offense faltered at key points in the game.

Suggs, who has averaged 17.6 points per game this season, managed only two points in the first 19 minutes, limiting Orlando’s scoring options early on.

The Pacers have now won three of their last four games, recovering from a 1-3 start by sharing the ball more effectively and increasing their pace of play.

Walker, a second-year forward, set a new career-high with his 17 points, going a perfect seven-for-seven from the field, including three three-pointers. He also grabbed six rebounds.

Indiana’s victory reflects a strong defensive effort, as they held Orlando to 42 of 82 shooting and limited their three-point attempts, with the Magic hitting only seven of 25 from beyond the arc. The Pacers also forced 16 turnovers, creating opportunities to control the game’s tempo and score efficiently on the other end.
