The Detroit Pistons (2-5) captured their second win of the season, defeating the Brooklyn Nets (3-4) 106-92 in a solid team performance Sunday night.
Cade Cunningham led Detroit with 19 points, while Tobias Harris and Malik Beasley each contributed 18 points. The Pistons showcased a balanced offensive effort, with six players reaching double figures.
Jalen Duren was a force on both ends, adding 13 points and an impressive 17 rebounds, helping Detroit dominate the glass. The Pistons out-rebounded the Nets 47-27, securing extra possessions and limiting Brooklyn’s opportunities.
Despite a game-high 26 points from Cameron Johnson, Brooklyn struggled to match Detroit’s intensity. Johnson’s 22 first-half points kept the Nets competitive early, but Brooklyn’s offense stalled in the second half, as they were outscored 31-20 in the third quarter.
Cam Thomas, the Nets’ leading scorer entering the game, added 17 points, though he was held to just six points in the fourth quarter. Detroit’s defense effectively limited Thomas, preventing Brooklyn from mounting a late comeback in the final period.
Shooting consistency plagued both teams, with Detroit converting just 11 of 36 attempts from beyond the arc, while Brooklyn hit 9 of 31 from deep. The Pistons, however, compensated for their shooting struggles with a commanding defensive performance and disciplined play down the stretch.
Detroit closed the game on a strong note, outscoring the Nets 23-15 in the fourth quarter to secure the victory. With this win, the Pistons has now claimed victory in two of its last three games.
