Charles Lee on Jayson Tatum: “He’s such a dangerous player”

Charlotte Hornets head coach Charles Lee marveled over Jayson Tatum’s growth following Saturday’s 113-103 home loss vs. the Boston Celtics (29 points/7 rebounds/3 assists/7-15 FG/1-9 3-PT/14-17 FT/+4 +/-).

(via Charlotte Hornets):

“He’s such a dangerous player, because he now has the ability to play isolation basketball. He is also trusting his teammates more and more in every situation, so now he’s a willing passer. I think he’s always been capable, and now he’s just even more willing to pass. And then he’s got great players around him to also just be able to make plays. So we had to find our balance of, ‘Are you gonna let him play isolation in this situation versus a different defender? I know they have shooting out there, but we just don’t wanna see him get another field goal attempt.’

“The other thing that I think he’s done a great job of is just having more composure, more poise to him. You can see it now where you hit him, you trap him, and he gets off of it and you think you can deny him. Now all of a sudden, he’s moving without the ball to try to go backdoor and slash. So, he’s just handling I think pressure a lot better.”
