Grizzlies sign Colin Castleton to two-way contract

The Memphis Grizzlies have officially signed center Colin Castleton to a two-way contract. This move aims to bolster the team’s frontcourt depth as they navigate the 2024-25 season.

Castleton, standing 6 feet 11 inches and weighing 250 pounds, had previously spent his rookie campaign with the Los Angeles Lakers. After going undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft, he was signed to a two-way deal with Los Angeles on July 3, 2023.

During the 2023-24 season, Castleton showcased his skills primarily in the NBA G League. He played 24 games for the South Bay Lakers, starting 23 of those contests. Castleton averaged 16.4 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.0 steals, and 1.5 blocks in 28.8 minutes per game. His shooting percentage was impressive at 57.4%, and he recorded 14 double-doubles.

In addition to his G League performance, Castleton made 16 appearances during the NBA regular season. However, he averaged just 1.5 points in 3.7 minutes of play. Despite his potential, the Lakers waived him on October 19.

Prior to joining the NBA, Castleton had a successful collegiate career at the University of Florida. He earned All-SEC First Team and All-SEC Defensive Team honors in his final season. During that year, he led the SEC and ranked third in the NCAA with an average of 3.0 blocks per game.
