Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd has shared an encouraging update on Luka Doncic’s recovery from a calf injury. The superstar guard, who has been sidelined for all three preseason games, practiced recently and showed promising signs of improvement.

“He practiced today and we move forward from what he did today. A lot of positives. He looked good. He did not forget how to play basketball,” Kidd said, according to Eddie Sefko. The update reassured Mavericks fans who have been eager for Doncic’s return to action ahead of the 2024-25 NBA season.

Doncic suffered the injury during a practice session when he experienced tightness in his left calf after taking a hit. Although the Mavericks have been cautious with their franchise player, Kidd’s recent remarks suggest that Doncic is nearing full recovery.

The 25-year-old Slovenian guard has been the centerpiece of Dallas’ success, and his absence from the preseason has raised concerns about his availability for the upcoming season. The Mavericks are scheduled to close their preseason with a home game against the Milwaukee Bucks, but it remains unclear if Doncic will suit up for the final exhibition game.
