Throughout Willie Green’s initial three seasons as head coach, the Pelicans have consistently found themselves among the bottom 10 teams in the league in terms of 3-point attempts.
Determined to shift this trend, Green is focused on increasing the team’s long-range shooting volume, as highlighted by Christian Clark of the New Orleans Times Picayune.
Last season, New Orleans averaged just 32.6 attempts from beyond the arc, a figure that Green aims to improve significantly.
Zion Williamson, a key player for the Pelicans, shared his perspective on this initiative, stating, “The message has been pretty clear. Get up at least 40 per game. That means we have to play with pace.
“And just play basketball. In the grand scheme of things, it’s definitely going to be a positive for us.”
This emphasis on playing faster and more freely suggests a strategic shift that could enhance the team’s offensive dynamics and overall performance in the upcoming season.
