DaQuan Jeffries suffers injury, set to miss time for Hornets

Charlotte Hornets forward DaQuan Jeffries is set to miss time after suffering a preseason injury. The team announced that Jeffries fractured his right fifth metacarpal and will be sidelined indefinitely.

Rod Boone of The Charlotte Observer shared the update on X, stating, “DaQuan Jeffries suffered a fractured right fifth metacarpal last night and will be out moving forward, #Hornets say. No timetable for a return.” The injury leaves his availability for the start of the season in doubt.

Jeffries, who was signed and traded to the Hornets on October 2, 2024, has appeared in two preseason games for Charlotte, totalling two points. He was part of a three-team trade involving the Minnesota Timberwolves and the New York Knicks. The deal sent Jeffries and several other assets to Charlotte, while Minnesota acquired Keita Bates-Diop, Donte DiVincenzo, and Julius Randle. New York landed Karl-Anthony Towns and the draft rights to James Nnaji.

Last season, Jeffries played sparingly for the Knicks, averaging less than a point in 2.7 minutes per game. However, he made a more substantial impact in the G League, where he averaged 22 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.9 assists over 14 games with the Westchester Knicks.
