Here’s Toronto Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic on building the team’s foundation/advice he got from San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich over the summer.
(via Toronto Raptors):
“The team is different this year. They’re so young. I think it’s going to be much more focused on establishing our identity that needs to be our identity not from one night to the next night, but for the next five, seven, ten years. We’re really building foundation now, and all I’m trying to do is not skip any steps. That was the advice I got from Coach Pop last summer when I got hired. It was a hectic season with all the changes. I was not really able to stick with it. But this year, it’s very important to do all the foundation steps the right way and to build this team the right way.”
