Washington Wizards guard Malcolm Brogdon underwent surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb. The injury occurred during practice on Saturday in Montreal, as reported by Josh Robbins of The Athletic.

The Wizards reportedly expect Brogdon to be sidelined for at least a month. His injury comes just months after being traded to the Wizards from the Portland Trail Blazers.

In July 2024, Washington acquired Brogdon in a trade involving the 14th pick in the NBA Draft, Bub Carrington, and several future draft picks. Brogdon is expected to be a key part of the Wizards’ rebuilding efforts moving forward.

Last season, Brogdon averaged 15.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game with the Blazers.
