The Washington Wizards will begin the 2024-25 season without newcomer Malcolm Brogdon. The veteran guard sustained a hand injury during a practice session on Saturday at McGill University.

Josh Robbins of The Athletic reported that Brogdon injured his right hand, prompting the Wizards to send him back to Washington for detailed imaging. This examination is crucial in assessing the severity of his injury.

Before the imaging results were released, a league source indicated that Brogdon is expected to be sidelined for at least one month. This timeline could impact the Wizards’ plans for the early part of the season.

Brogdon joined the Wizards in a trade on July 6, 2024. The Wizards acquired him along with the 14th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, Bub Carrington, a 2029 first-round pick swap, and two second-round picks in exchange for Deni Avdija.

Last season, Brogdon played for the Portland Trail Blazers, averaging 15.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 5.5 assists in 28.7 minutes per game.
