Former NBA player Matt Barnes, co-host of the All The Smoke podcast, recently revealed his interest in interviewing 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump. Speaking with Scoop B Radio, Barnes expressed that he has no reservations about having the Republican presidential candidate on his show.
Barnes, alongside co-host and fellow NBA champion Stephen Jackson, made headlines earlier this week when they interviewed U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris on their popular podcast. Despite their recent high-profile guest, Barnes emphasized that All The Smoke maintains an open-door policy for all guests, regardless of their political views.
“I would DEFINITELY interview Donald Trump,” Barnes told Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson on Scoop B Radio. His motivation is to engage with the former president in an honest dialogue. “I want to ask him some real questions. That’s it,” Barnes explained.
The podcast, known for its raw and unfiltered conversations with athletes, entertainers, and public figures, has become a platform where Barnes and Jackson dive deep into various topics. Having Trump on the show would give them an opportunity to ask direct and unscripted questions.
Though Barnes expressed interest in interviewing Trump, he also mentioned other notable figures he would like to have on the show. One such guest is NBA legend Michael Jordan. “Man, I hope MJ, you know,” Barnes said, referring to the possibility of Jordan making an appearance on All The Smoke. He added that Jordan’s stories are something fans and listeners would love to hear, and he’s eager to provide that platform.
While Barnes and Jackson have not yet secured Jordan for an interview, they remain hopeful. They’ve already had NBA Hall of Famer Dominique Wilkins on the show, who shared fascinating stories about Jordan during his career. “We had the chance to sit down with Dominique Wilkins, and he had a bunch of GREAT Jordan stories,” Barnes noted. Even if Jordan doesn’t appear on All The Smoke, Barnes said he’d be happy to see the NBA legend share his stories elsewhere.
As All The Smoke continues to grow its guest list, Barnes and Jackson are determined to bring diverse voices to their platform. Whether it’s a politician like Donald Trump, a basketball icon like Michael Jordan, or any other significant figure.
As Barnes said in his interview, “We don’t have any no-no’s,” which leaves the door wide open for future guests of all backgrounds.
