One of the best Boston Celtics players Jayson Tatum was talking about his mom, Olympics and how coach Joe influenced all the team to watch football (soccer) games in Abu Dhabi where Boston was facing Denver in the two preseason games.
“During my career, it was a lot of people who were my mentors. But for me, my mom, she’s been every step of the way with me, even to this day. I rely on her for a lot of things on and off the court”, Jayson mentioned his mom as the most reliable person for him.
This summer Tatum won gold at the Olympics with the USA national but with all his stars teammates he didn’t have the opportunity to show what he can do and what he is doing with Boston Celtics. Even though he didn’t play a lot, he helped the team and was part of the great success. And he can get his chance in the future, Jayson is still young and has a long journey in front of him.
“For me, it was a really good experience just being around some of the best players in the world and around some of the best players that ever played the game and seeing what makes everybody great. This summer was lot shorter but for a good reason. I take a short summer any day if it means winning championship and getting another gold medal. And I am still young, so I am grateful I can enjoy these things, and being appreciative and not taking it for granted and it was a hell of the summer for me”, said one of the key players in the coach Mazzulla roster. And being part of his team, means you need to know and follow football (USA word is soccer).
“Yeah, we watch a lot of soccer clips and things like that. Most of the clips of Arsenal and it is for sure because of Joe“, said Jayson whose club didn’t make any big changes in the roster from the last season when they became the NBA champions.
“Last year we had great chemistry, but things can always get better. We have the same team from last year except my guy Oshae, and I think that is the benefit. We got everybody returning and we know how we play and we know the things that really work for us and we looking to expand all that”, said Tatum during his interview with the media gathered in Abu Dhabi for the NBA show between Boston Celtics and Denver Nuggets.
