Isaac Okoro recently revealed that he weighed the option of accepting Cleveland’s one-year qualifying offer, which would have allowed him to enter unrestricted free agency next year, before ultimately deciding to sign a three-year, $38 million contract with the Cavaliers.
“In my head I was like, ‘Nah, I think Cleveland wants me, and I want to be here,’” Okoro stated, expressing his commitment to the team. “I wanted to be here.” His decision reflects a strong desire to contribute to the Cavaliers’ success and be part of their future.
In a separate report by Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com, it was noted that head coach Kenny Atkinson is contemplating an expanded role for Okoro this season.
With the team looking to maximize its potential, Okoro is expected to take on additional responsibilities on the court. Specifically, he will be tasked with screening more often, which will help facilitate plays and create opportunities for his teammates.
Additionally, Okoro is encouraged to diversify his game, incorporating new skills and techniques to become a more well-rounded player.
This evolution in his role could be pivotal not just for his development but also for the Cavaliers’ overall performance as they strive for success in the upcoming season.
