According to Darnell Mayberry of The Athletic, the Chicago Bulls are set to sign free agent guard Joshua Primo to an Exhibit 10 contract, allowing him to join their training camp with the possibility of converting to a two-way or standard NBA contract based on his performance.
Primo, the 12th overall pick in the 2021 draft, played his rookie season with the Spurs, averaging 5.8 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 50 games.
However, he was waived by San Antonio after allegations of inappropriate behavior surfaced, including incidents involving a sports psychologist, leading to a four-game NBA suspension.
After being cut, he signed with the Clippers but played in only two NBA games before being released.
Last season, he spent most of his time in the G League, averaging 16.7 points and 3.3 assists in 30 games. Recently, he suffered a stress fracture in his left ankle, limiting his offseason activities.
Mayberry reports that Primo is expected to be waived by the Bulls and then play for their G League affiliate, the Windy City Bulls, as he continues his recovery.
If he is waived before the season and spends at least 60 days with Windy City, his contract will provide a bonus of up to $77.5K in addition to his G League salary.
