Alperen Sengun on extension: “I want to get the contract”

Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun expressed optimism about securing a contract extension during the team’s media day. Entering his fourth season in the NBA, Sengun is coming off a breakout year.

“We’ve been talking. I want to get the contract,” Sengun stated, via FranchiseSenun on X. He added, “They are trying to negotiate with us [and vice versa]. It’s been good. We’re going to make it work. Hopefully, we make it work.”

Sengun is currently in the final year of his rookie four-year, $15.5 million contract. Given his impressive performance last season, he is expected to receive a substantial extension.

Last season, Sengun averaged a career-high 21.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 5 assists in 32.5 minutes per game. His contributions were pivotal in the Rockets’ efforts to rebuild and compete in the Western Conference.

The Rockets view Sengun as a foundational player for their future. His ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor makes him a key asset moving forward.

Negotiations for a contract extension are ongoing. Sengun’s positive outlook indicates a mutual desire to reach an agreement that benefits both parties.
