There was much debate in the past few days after some statements by Sarunas Jasikevicius himself that he would not rule out a move to Olympiacos but according to the latest information from the majority of the Greek media, the Lithuanian star will retire wearing the Panathinaikos’ jersey.

Panathinaikos coach Zeljko Obradovic had made it clear that he wants Jasikevicius to remain in the team and Panathinaikos’ board made sure to please the Serb head-coah by reaching an agreement with Jasikevicius which will see him singing a new 2-years long contract which will be worth about 2 million euros per season.

There was a disagreement in the length of the contract as Jasikevicius’ desire was a closed 2 years contract while Panathinaikos wanted to offer him a single year contract but they came to a consensus where Panathinaikos will have an opt-out in the summer of 2010 by paying a half million euros in order to release the Lithuanian.

The official announcement is expected next week, when Jasikevicius agent will arrive to Athens to seal the deal.
