In a notable offseason decision last year, Bradley Beal opted for the Phoenix Suns over the Miami Heat.
According to Vincent Goodwill, the Heat’s reluctance to fully pursue Beal and Damian Lillard was unexpected. Goodwill noted that the Heat did not fully commit to acquiring either player.
David Aldridge confirmed that the Heat were interested in Beal but faced a setback due to Beal’s no-trade clause. Aldridge highlighted that despite the Heat’s efforts, Beal preferred Phoenix.
On June 24, 2023, Beal, alongside Jordan Goodwin and Isaiah Todd, was traded to the Suns. The Wizards received a substantial return, including four first-round pick swaps, six second-round picks, Landry Shamet, and Chris Paul.
During his first season with the Suns, Beal averaged 18.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game.
