JJ Redick, the new head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, shared his enthusiasm about assembling his coaching staff as the team prepares for the 2024-25 season.

Redick highlighted his approach, stating, “I couldn’t be happier with the staff that we’ve built here,” via Jesse Cinquini Lakers Daily.

He emphasized the importance of creating a team of hardworking individuals, saying, “The biggest thing for me was I wanted to make sure I had a bunch of sickos on my staff, and I think I’ve accomplished that.”

The Lakers recently announced their new coaching lineup, including veterans Nate McMillan, Scott Brooks, and Bob Beyer as assistant coaches.

McMillan brings years of head coaching experience from his time with the Portland Trail Blazers, Indiana Pacers, and Atlanta Hawks.

Brooks, known for leading the Oklahoma City Thunder and Washington Wizards, adds further expertise to Redick’s coaching team.

Beyer, who has been an NBA assistant coach for nearly two decades, has had stints with teams such as the Detroit Pistons and New Orleans Pelicans.

Greg St. Jean continues his role with the Lakers, while former WNBA star Lindsey Harding and developmental coach Beau Levesque complete the staff.

In addition to the assistant coaches, Michael Wexler will serve as head video coordinator, responsible for video analysis and strategy development.

Redick expressed his excitement about working with the group, stating, “It’s been fascinating because you’re fitting puzzle pieces together about skill sets and personalities.”

He added that the staff brings a unique blend of experience and youthful energy, combining to form a well-rounded coaching unit.

“I’m mostly excited just to work, just being in the gym out here at this facility with the guys and our coaching staff,” Redick said about the upcoming season.

He emphasized the significance of assembling a group that embodies hard work and dedication, traits he values in building a competitive team culture.
