The New York Knicks are reportedly unlikely to bring back guard Ryan Arcidiacono for the upcoming season.
According to Ian Begley of SportsNet New York, sources familiar with the situation indicated that the Knicks are unlikely to use their final roster spot on Arcidiacono.
Arcidiacono, who has spent parts of the last two seasons with New York, made a positive impression on head coach Tom Thibodeau.
Despite limited minutes, Thibodeau praised Arcidiacono’s professionalism and impact on the team’s culture.
However, with the current roster construction, sources suggest that a return for Arcidiacono is unlikely.
Arcidiacono rejoined the Knicks on September 15, 2023, marking his second stint with the franchise.
During his time with the Knicks, Arcidiacono set an NBA record for most consecutive games played without scoring a single point, going scoreless in 20 straight appearances.
On February 8, 2024, Arcidiacono was part of a trade that sent him, along with several others, to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for Bojan Bogdanovic and Alec Burks.
Two days after the trade, Arcidiacono was waived by the Pistons, ending his brief stint with the team.
Following his release from Detroit, Arcidiacono signed with the Windy City Bulls on February 23, 2024.
Last season, the 30-year-old guard appeared in 20 games for New York, averaging 2.3 minutes per game but failing to score.
