The Utah Jazz have officially signed veteran guard Patty Mills, marking his 16th season in the NBA. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, per team policy.
The 36-year-old Australian split last season between the Atlanta Hawks and Miami Heat. He averaged 4 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game across 32 appearances.
Now joining his sixth NBA team, Mills aims to provide depth and leadership to a Jazz squad that continues to build for playoff contention.
Over his career, Mills has been known for his three-point shooting and ability to play both guard positions effectively. His veteran presence is expected to help guide Utah’s younger players as they compete in a highly competitive Western Conference.
Mills started his NBA journey in 2009 with the Portland Trail Blazers after being selected as the 55th overall pick in the draft. He gained prominence with the San Antonio Spurs, where he spent ten seasons and won an NBA championship in 2014. His time with the Spurs solidified his reputation as a reliable role player, especially during crucial playoff moments.
After leaving San Antonio, Mills had stints with the Brooklyn Nets and the Hawks as well as Heat.
In addition to his NBA career, Mills has been a standout player for the Australian national team, earning a bronze medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. His leadership on and off the court has made him one of the most respected figures in international basketball.
