Paul George, who recently signed with the Philadelphia 76ers, shared a humorous anecdote about using “Holy Water” to help achieve his NBA dream.
In a recent episode of Podcast P with his father, George recounted how he ordered holy water as a teenager in hopes of becoming a professional basketball player.
“I don’t think moms or pops know that story of me ordering the holy water,” George said. “I was probably like 15 or 16 years old and saw an infomercial about holy water.”
The infomercial claimed the water could provide spiritual benefits, prompting George to try it for himself. “So I watched it and thought, ‘Alright, well it’s worth a try.’”
He explained that he ordered the holy water and received a small sample in the mail after filling out some information. “I remember I prayed and sprinkled the holy water on me,” George added.
His prayer was simple: “I just want to be an NBA player, like I wanna be the best basketball player I can be.”
Reflecting on the experience, George humorously noted, “It’s safe to say it worked.” His career has certainly supported that claim.
