Maccabi Tel Aviv has signed American guard Daryl Macon Jr. to a one-year contract with an option for an additional season.

Macon, 28, previously played for Panathinaikos in the EuroLeague and spent last season in the Chinese Basketball Association.

The combo guard is known for his scoring ability and playmaking skills, capable of producing points both for himself and his teammates.

“I’m super excited to finally get a chance to play in front of Maccabi’s fans,” Macon said. “I’ve heard so much about the amazing club, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to return to the EuroLeague stage.”

Macon, who hails from Little Rock, Arkansas, began his college career at a small community college in Mississippi before transferring to the University of Arkansas, where he averaged nearly 17 points and 4 assists per game in his final season.

Though undrafted in 2018, Macon signed a two-way contract with the Dallas Mavericks and spent time with their G League affiliate. He also had brief stints with the Miami Heat.

In summer 2020, Macon continued his career in Europe, signing with Galatasaray before moving to AEK Athens and later Panathinaikos, where he made his EuroLeague debut.

Most recently, Macon played for Shenzhen in the Chinese league, averaging 18.9 points, 6.1 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game while shooting 42.5% from beyond the arc.
