Phoenix Suns owner Mat Ishbia answered a question about his team’s interest in drafting Bronny James.
Leading up to the 2024 NBA Draft, agent Rich Paul conveyed Bronny’s preference to play for either the Lakers or the Suns, with workouts exclusively for these two teams.
Ultimately, the Lakers selected Bronny James at the 55th overall pick, fulfilling his desire to follow in his father’s footsteps.
Ishbia acknowledged the Suns’ interest in Bronny, emphasizing their belief in his potential to contribute positively to the team.
“We thought Bronny James would be a great fit here in Phoenix but the Lakers drafted him,” Ishbia remarked during an interview on The Pat McAfee Show. He also praised Bronny’s basketball IQ and potential.
Despite missing out on Bronny, Ishbia remains optimistic about the Suns’ future and their ongoing pursuit of talent.
