Klay Thompson opens up about joining Mavericks

Klay Thompson, after 13 years with the Golden State Warriors, has made a significant move to the Dallas Mavericks on a lucrative three-year, $50 million contract.

Thompson expressed his excitement about the change, highlighting how a new environment can rejuvenate his career.

“Whether you play basketball or work in the corporate world or wherever, whatever industry, sometimes change just can spur greatness and a change of scenery can do wonders,” Thompson said during his introductory press conference.

In a statement at his introductory press conference, Thompson emphasized the appeal of Dallas’s young talent, playing style, and the organization’s top-tier treatment of players.

“Dallas was so attractive because of the young player they have, the style of play, the world-class treatment these players get from this organization, and just a beautiful city that loves their hoops,” he noted.

The sharpshooter cited Dallas’s strong team camaraderie and their competitive spirit as key factors in his decision.

“So when I was watching the playoffs and I’m watching the Mavs make a run for the championship, I just saw myself fitting in really well with this team and the personnel,” Thompson explained.

Thompson’s decision to leave Golden State reflects his belief in Dallas’s potential and his desire for a fresh challenge.

“I’m very grateful for my time at Golden State, but I just felt like moving on could just re-energize me and do something special for the rest of my career,” he stated.

“They look like they have fun playing with each other and they play for each other, and that was very attractive for me,” Thompson said about the Mavericks.
